This is my writing for the week. This is about pygmy seahorses.
There are seven different types of pygmy seahorse in the world. The pygmy seahorse is two centimeters in size and is one of the smallest in the world. They live in the Indo-West Pacific ocean. Their scientific name is Hippocampus Bargibanti.
The pygmy seahorse is amazing at camouflage. The pygmy seahorse finds a sea fan coral and blends in with it. They even develop tubercles (bumps) to help them blend in even better! The coral reef they blend in with is either orange or purple.
Pygmy seahorses have very different births to that of humans. The pygmy seahorse starts when its mum and dad do a courtship dance. Then that baby gets born from the fathers brood pouch. Then they go off and find some coral reef to camouflage to. When they find a coral reef they will change color to match that of the coral.
The pygmy seahorse eats small crustaceans. Its predators hunt them and that is why they need to hide.
Another big problem for the pygmy seahorses is climate change. Climate change is warming the sea up. People are killing sea life with plastic that they let into the environment and doing irresponsible fishing. This and more is the main reason pygmy seahorses are dying.
So that is the pygmy seahorse. This is just a bit of information. If you want more information search up pygmy seahorses.
